The first organization to put Olivia Colman in support, where some think she belongs, is also the first not to nominate Emma Stone as well. I guess there’s only room in the category for two actresses from The Favourite. Roma‘s leading 9 nominations is the top story in these nominations because it’s the best the film has performed so far this season while The Favourite and A Star Is Born also did quite well. Hereditary performed above expectations while Sam Elliott misses for a second time in two days, which has to be worrying to the long-time actor. There are a handful of interesting selections here and a few that have been commonplace so far this season. It’s also interesting that the once-thought-lost film The Other Side of the Wind managed to get an editing nomination.
