Review: (#1) It’s a giant ape. And apparently Dwayne Johnson is in it, though his own stature compared to the apes is a bit exaggerated.
(#2) Three monstrosities, plus Dwayne Johnson. There’s a joke that could be made, but it’s too easy. (#3) Meant to be stoic, it comes off as just cheesy. (#4) A modestly actiony design, but one that’s not nearly as exciting as it needs to be. (#5) The classic monster movie drawn poster that’s surprisingly better than prior designs, but still not that impressive. (#6) The most interesting design yet, one that’s got a lot of fantastical and pseudo-psychedelic elements, it’s probably the most engaging design they could go with. (#7) Another artistically drawn design that isn’t nearly as impressive as it thinks it is.
Trailer Rating: C+ / C+

Review: (#1) When the trailer highlights that the director is the one behind San Andreas, everything that felt familiar about the trailer comes into focus. This looks to be a painfully inept simulacrum to that mild box office success. That the story feels overly familiar while being an adaptation of the 1980s video game, it all starts feeling like a bad idea.
(#2) This new trailer gives the film a bit more detail and also some nice comic touches, but it also cheapens the action as it looks to shift from interesting pseudo-comedic action film to forgettable, utilitarian action flick.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
