The Academy has narrowed the potential Best Makeup & Hairstyling nominees down to seven finalists. Only three of these will make it through and I suspect that Mad Max, The Revenant and Mr. Holmes may end up the nominees, though Black Mass and 100-Year-Old Man could also be contenders.

LOS ANGELES, CA โ The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced that seven films remain in competition in the Makeup and Hairstyling category for the 88th Academy Awardsยฎ.
The films are listed below in alphabetical order:
“Black Mass”
“Concussion”
“Legend”
“Mad Max: Fury Road”
“Mr. Holmes”
“The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared”
“The Revenant”
On Saturday, January 9, 2016, all members of the Academy’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch will be invited to view 10-minute excerpts from each of the seven shortlisted films. Following the screenings, members will vote to nominate three films for final Oscar consideration.
The 88th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 5:30 a.m. PT at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
The 88th Oscarsยฎ will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatreยฎ at Hollywood & Highland Centerยฎ in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
