Wesley Lovell: It’s hard to predict these without having seen them all. Based entirely on the premises, I might have put stock in a different winner, but the blend of old and new will warm the hearts of Oscar voters, giving them the desire to recognize Disney’s Get a Horse over any of the others.
Peter J. Patrick: The Disney cartoon featuring Mickey Mouse and other legendary Disney creations will be hard to beat.
Tripp Burton: I won’t get a chance to see these until next weekend, so right now this is just a guess.

Best Live-Action Short Film

Winner Predictions

  • Aquel No Era Yo (That Wasn’t Me)
  • Avant Que De Tou Perdre (Just Before Losing Everything) (PP R) [New]
  • Helium (WL O)
  • Pitaako Mun Kaikki Hoitaa? (Do I Have to Take Care of Everything?)
  • The Voorman Problem (TB O)

Runner-Up Predictions

  • Aquel No Era Yo (That Wasn’t Me) (PP R) [New]
  • Avant Que De Tou Perdre (Just Before Losing Everything) (TB R) [New]
  • The Voorman Problem (WL O)

(color and symbol key at bottom of page)

Wesley Lovell: I’ve never been great at predicting these, but the descriptions suggest Helium might be the most accessible. Any of these could win, though, and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised.
Peter J. Patrick: Festival sensation Just Before Losing Everything should take this one easily.
Tripp Burton: I won’t get a chance to see these until next weekend, so right now this is just a guess.
