Precursor: 18th Costume Designers Guild Awards (2015)

There’s big news out of this year’s Costume Designers Guild awards. For most the season, everyone thought Cinderella might be the inevitable winner of the Oscar, but the CDG may have changed that thought process. Mad Max: Fury Road pulls off an upset win over the costumes of Cinderella, giving it a strong boost going into the Oscars. With BAFTA delivering the same result, it’s possible that the dystopian film makes waves at the Oscars in the same way. That isn’t to say it’s a done deal as the CDG has only a 50% track record predicting the Oscars. However, this does give Mad Max: Fury Road a very solid push towards a win.
