We had one film releasing this weekend with the potential for Oscar nominations.

A Place at the Table

The advertising is celebrating the fact that the makers of the Oscar-nominated documentary Food, Inc. are behind this natural extension of that take on the food industry. This film looks more closely at poverty and healthy eating. The idea is certainly right up the Academy’s alley and considering how many recent documentarians have been nominated multiple times in recent years, it’s a good possibility the film at least makes the shortlist. I’m more doubtful it will get nominated, but a weak crop of nominees might give it hope.
