(Update: 7/21/10, 12:34p – Added Wes’ thoughts and Consensus) This week we have two new wide releases (Salt, Ramona and Beezus), two new New York/Los Angeles releases (Valhalla Rising, Life During Wartime) and one D.C./New York release (Countdown to Zero).
Consensus
Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.
Salt: Not an Oscar contender (75%)
Ramona and Beezus: We won’t be watching it (75%) and it’s not an Oscar contender (100%)
Valhalla Rising: We are undecided on whether to see it or not (75%), but it’s definitely not an Oscar contender (100%)
Life During Wartime: Half of us will see it and the other half aren’t sure, but we agree it’s not an Oscar contender (100%)

ThoughtsThe premise is at least interesting and Angelina Jolie is one of those actresses that make it easy for you to want to watch her, so these combined with the likelihood of my friends picking this for the weekend movie, I will very likely see it. |
