There’s only one film releasing wide this week and it’s sure to be the top film of the week and the month. It Chapter Two opens wide and is sure to challenge its predecessor’s weekend total at the box office. Nothing, not even holdovers, have a chance.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I didn’t want to see the first one. I donโ€™t want to see the sequel.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): At almost 3 hours, this is way too long for the second half of a story that could have concluded as part of the original, but will probably be a hit anyway.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Horror films are not my thing, and having not seen the first one, I have no desire to see this one.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The potentially inspirational film could be worth my time.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): This one about a fesity old lady starring a veteran TV actress has been kicking around film festivals for two years – it won’t fill too many theatre seats.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): An older person deciding to go on an adventure has been done many times before, but it sounds like this one boasts a very good performance from Sheila Hancock who has mainly been a stage actress.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The disjointed trailer doesn’t quite sell the film.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Films about death and dying don’t usually sell a lot of tickets or win a lot of awards – this one set in L.A.’s Koreantown doesn’t seem to be an exception.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The early reviews of this family drama are good, though the trailer does not bring that much excitement to the table.
