There’s one new wide release, one expanding feature, and one re-release headed to the box office this weekend and while the re-release of Avatar is likely to top the charts, Don’t Worry, Darling being the only new wide release is likely to come in above Moonage Daydream, a documentary about David Bowie.

Our Highest Rated Films: Don’t Worry, Darling, Carmen

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The film looks quite good, but early reviews haven’t been great, so maybe it’s not worth seeing.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): This alleged take on The Stepford Wives looks more weird than suspenseful.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It boasts an exciting trailer, but the mostly negative reviews makes me think this is a missed opportunity. Florence Pugh is said to be amazing, but that may not be enough to make it a success in theaters.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Another Mel Gibson film I refuse to watch.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Bank heist drama based on a true story looks routine.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It does not look terrible, and might even be fun, but I was losing interest by the end of the trailer.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It could be interesting, but the trailer just doesn’t sell it well.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Loosely based on the life of the director’s aunt, this one looks like a definite lowkey charmer.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I doubt it will be that memorable a movie, but it will probably prove enjoyable enough, though the intriguing premise becomes a little too familiar by the end of the trailer.
