It looks like the failure of Tenet to draw an audience has made studios skittish and they’ve pulled many of their new releases and pushed them either closer to the end of the year or into 2021 completely. So, there’s nothing new this weekend, except in limited reelase.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Science ficiton can be well done if clever enough, but this trailer doesn’t quite sell it.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Futuristic thriller might make an intriguing matinee.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It might be a mildly diverting science fiction film about time travel and avoiding the world that humans have created, but it just does not look that appealing.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It looks a bit bizarre, but is it weird enough to be interesting?
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Turkish 1984 doesn’t appear to fulfill its potential.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Some reviewers liked the film, but a dull trailer did not ramp up the terror or horror for me.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The play is legendary, the trailer doesn’t make it look like much.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Remake of groundbreaking 1970 film has a lot to live up to.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I did not see the revival, but am excited to see the film adapted from it. It’s a good play, though may feel awfully dated by now.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): An interesting look at women as spies during World War II. It certainly looks like it could be done better.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Historical drama about a little known aspect of WWII has sleeper potential.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The story of women being trained as spies during WWII sounds exciting, but a dull trailer did not make it seem so interesting.

Wesley Lovell (WL): There’s no clear path this film takes through the trailer that makes it seem more than passably interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Another creepy horror movie I will be happy to avoid.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): At first the trailer seemed interesting, but by the end I just did not care what happened to these two people, no matter how strange.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): A weird trailer with no sense of purpose or appeal.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): An original looking sci-fi horror film should be worth seeking out.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The story of an assassin using brain plant technology to inhabit other bodies to do the work sounds intriguing, though the trailer was confusing and a little too bloody for me. Still might be worth seeing.
