Three new wide releases come out this week and while two of them could be hits, I expect the only one that will make much money is Uncharted.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Another horror film that doesn’t look that interesting.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Eerie looking horror film doesn’t do anything for me.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer is pretty to look at in a stylized way, but may not bring any new viewers to see it who are not fond of the genre to start with.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The most recent trailer mentioned that the dog doesn’t die. I’m not sure if that’s an adequate selling point.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Classified as a comedy, this PTSD recovery film seems a good fit for Channing Tatum and his producer friend’s joint directorial debut.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Channing Tatum can be charming, but this movie looks incredibly dumb and it does not do anything to make me want to see it.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): There have been very few good adaptations of video games. This doesn’t look like one of them.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a cross between Spider-Man without his web and an Indiana Jones wannabe.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): While some of the effects look impressive, though ridiculous, I get the feeling that the movie will mostly be ridiculous.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Trying to be weird doesn’t always make for a good movie.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Arthouse horror film looks as unimpressive as its more commercial counterparts.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The moody trailer is reasonably effective, but I will still probably pass.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): It could be passable entertainment, but not worth catching in the theater.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): An acting showcase for Timothy Spall as a 91-year-old man but otherwise doesn’t seem to be of much interest.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Timothy Spall is a good actor, but it looks like it will take more than him to hold together this slight movie.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Bizarre enough to be interesting, but not interesting enough to be seen in cinemas.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Sci-fi comedy looks as ridiculous as its premise about the taxing of dreams.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer boasts some fabulous and bizarre imagery, but I think bizarre will win out and make it hard to watch the full movie.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Serial killer films aren’t generally that good, especially ones that try to humanize their subjects.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Unpleasant looking film about the making of notorious Unabomber Ted Kaczynski.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): It could prove to be an insightful film about the early days of the Unabomber, but the trailer does not quite sell the film.
