How much can an R-rated film, especially a comic book movie, do at the weekend box office? We’re about to find out. While How to Be Single will be interesting counterprogramming and could do quite well, Zoolander 2 appeals to a somewhat similar demographic as Deadpool and I doubt such a long span between releases will be that effective.

Our Highest Rated Films: Deadpool, Of Mind and Music, Where to Invade Next
Our Best Awards Ratings: Deadpool (Oscars), Zoolander 2 (Razzies), Touched with Fire (Critics)

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I’ve loved this character since he was introduced in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds certainly has the comedic chops to handle it.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Here’s hoping the early reviews of this self-deprecating Marvel superhero movie lives up to the hype.
Tripp Burton (TB): I am on superhero fatigue, and this looks like a tedious and unnecessary entry in the genre.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I am a bit over the Marvel universe, but this one does have good word of mouth, and if the movie can hold onto the humor it shows in the trailer, it could be good.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The cast alone makes this look interesting, but the trailer doesn’t. It could be hit-and-miss at the same time.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): The trailer for this loud, obnoxious chick flick already gave me a headache. I don’t need to see the film.
Tripp Burton (TB): I found the trailer unfunny and dull.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Women behaving badly does not excite me much nor does the trailer make the film look good. Nice cast, so maybe it can rise above its mediocre look.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I never had an interest in the original, so seeing the sequel isn’t in the cards.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): I wasn’t amused by the original, I doubt that the sequel will have me in stitches either.
Tripp Burton (TB): I’m not a fan of the first, and I have no interest in this one.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): Having never seen the first movie, this one has no interest for me at all. Neither Ben Stiller nor Owen Wilson are my favorite actors.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The concept intrigues me and the trailer gave me an additional interest.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Low budget horror anthology looks to be strictly for fans of the genre.
Tripp Burton (TB): I’ve heard interesting things about this, but will wait until it is streaming.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer makes this horror anthology look better than average, but it is just not my favorite style. It’s an odd choice for a Valentine’s Day flick.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This just isn’t my style of film.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Dreamy looking Bollywood film hopefully has subtitles, unlike the trailer (Editor’s Note: the trailer linked on the Cinema Sight preview has subtitles).
Tripp Burton (TB): Not my thing.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The movie boasts two attractive leads, but with a poor boy loving the rich girl storyline it will need more than that to succeed, and the trailer does not make that look likely

Wesley Lovell (WL): I can’t say the film as interesting me one direction or the other.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Fact-based drama about the romantic connection between two manic-depressive patients.
Tripp Burton (TB): Looks like it could be real interesting or real tedious. I can’t decide which.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This story of two bipolar poets could be interesting, or it could be mired in too much angst and drama.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): I definitely have to admit I’m curious.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Michael Moore pseudo-documentary with a silly premise looks like a matter of taste.
Tripp Burton (TB): This looks like a return to form for Michael Moore, and I’m excited to hear from him again.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A little Michael Moore goes a long way, though it looks like he raises some interesting, if incredibly biased, points in the film.
