There’s only one choice this week for box office topper and Miss Bala might be it. Glass is already growing long in the tooth, so it’s next weekend should be small enough that Miss Bala, which doesn’t have a lot of strong box office prospects could come out on top.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer doesn’t look that appealing. There have been similar films out there that are comedies, but this seems an odd choice for a traditional drama.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Unimpressive looking remake of an 8-year-old Mexican film from the director of the original Twilight.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): This action film does not show anything new in its trailer, and I do not expect any more than that from the film.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): As interesting as a harrowing survivalist adventure in the arctic might be, this film doesn’t quite entice.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Icelandic film appears to be an exciting survival drama.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): A tense movie about the survival of two people, one with a broken back perhaps, trying to survive an arctic plane crash looks exciting. It is similar to other man versus nature films, but with a strong actor to guide it, it should be worth watching.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): If it weren’t for the filmmaker (Nuri Bilge Ceylan), I don’t think it would be as compelling. That said, it could be quite engaging.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): The latest character study from a celebrated Turkish director should be worth your time.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The early reviews are good and the trailer starts out interesting intertwining a recent college graduate in Turkey with his rural upbringing, but then it feels like the director tries to get too much in, at least in the trailer, and it becomes a pile of pretty but disparate images.
