Another week with mostly virtual and limited releases. When we first prepared this week for consideration, The SpongeBob Movie hadn’t been scheduled. Normally, it would have been included. Here is my original preview of the film. There isn’t otherwise much to see here.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer does the film a disservice with no dialogue to further the story and no compelling imagery to sell the film.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Nice to see Cambodia releasing a film on the world stage, but there doesn’t seem to be drama on display.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The description of the film and the aimless trailer could practically be for two different films. I’ve been to Cambodia twice, so am more interested than I would normally be by a film set there, but I certainly know little from the trailer.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Original horror projects are always interesting, but something about this one makes it feel entirely derivative.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a low-key Russian version of Alien. See it if that’s your thing.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I am not sure that it will be different than a lot of horror films with a parasitic alien and a human host, so I am not that excited to see it.
