After having seen the movie, I don’t think it’s gonna get any nominations. Nothing in the top categories for sure, the editing is a bit flabby, the cinematography a bit shaky, the art direction and costumes a bit garish, the sound a bit ragged, the score too similar to others, the visuals too fake. I liked the movie well enough, but award-worthy it ain’t!
I’m watching it Sunday, so I don’t know about any of that, but when you say the Art Direction and Costumes were a bit garish, then I think it succeeded. I don’t know if you’ve read the book or not, but that is precisely the fashion sense and decorative style of The Capitol.
Fair enough, but you can’t argue with the fact that the Costume Designers and Art Directors will very likely recognize the film in their Fantasy categories if nowhere else.
