Review: (#1) A lot of people in this design and it looks mostly well set, but the lighting is off just enough in the background to make it all seem just a little overdone. (#2) Not far removed from the prior design, it uses four of the same figures with a less interesting background and a zoom in that’s not all that attractive.

Review: For anyone who saw the Anjelica Huston-led original, this film looks like an utter disappointment. What made the first adaptation of Raold Dahl’s clever book so special was its unique look and feel, yet this looks entirely derivative and never finds a way to make it seem like it can stand on its own.
Oscar Prospects:
The original film couldn’t even manage a Best Makeup nomination in spite of its stellar work in that department. This one looks to be more of the same, but the dearth of contenders this year might give it a boost.
