Poster Rating: C-; C+

Review: It’s difficult to tell whether this message is written on a wall or paper, on a fridge or something else. There’s nothing terribly engaging about the poster unless you’ve seen the trailer and even then it ignores other more interestings aspects of the film.

While the second poster is a far better piece of work than the first, it still lacks a purpose. Sure, we suspect Nicole Kidman and
Daniel Craig are going to be pursued in the film, there isn’t much else you can glean from the poster.

Trailer Rating: C

Review: The modern invasion of old stories continues. No one can easily forget Invasion of the Body Snatchers but so dissimilar to the first two films is this Kidman version that they had to change the title to just The Invasion. The trailer does a poor job of allaying the fears of the fans of the original black-and-white feature. The modernization of the story and overly revealing trailer only go to show how much filmmaking has changed since then.

Oscar Prospects:

The original films were highly respected, even if they weren’t huge Oscar contenders. However, since the film looks less like a science fiction/horror and more like a standard horror, I can’t see the Academy catching on.
