Poster Rating: C; C-; D+

Review: The first poster is somewhat fitting the period in which the film is set, but hardly attention-getting.; The second poster is very bland and less distinguished.; The bottom poster gives nothing to entice the viewer in and suggests the film is much ado about nothing.

Trailer Rating: C; C

Review: Richard Gere seems to be in some sort of late-career renaissance. After spending much of the 80s as a playboy on screen, he’s moved into more controversial and mature roles. However, this film doesn’t seem to be that exciting. We know that it will end with him either escaping scott free or in jail and I can’t say that the preview makes me care one way or another.; The longer trailer doesn’t do much more to impress the audience, nor does it detract. There just isn’t enough to say anything more.

Oscar Prospects:

Had this been released last year as expected, we would have seen a stronger contender in Richard Gere. Now, with a release date in April, we know why it didn’t figure last year. The film cannot be very notable and Gere, though I’m sure he gives a decent performance, isn’t going to be a contender at this year’s Oscars.
