Page Revisions:

Release Date:

July 24, 2020

From IMDb: “A love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional 20th-century French city that brings to life a collection of stories published in “The French Dispatch” magazine.”

Poster Rating: B

Review: Designed to look like an old child’s book, the design features a lot of details and should appeal to fans of the Wes Anderson aesthetic.

Trailer Rating: B

Review: Wes Anderson hasn’t been this unhinged in awhile, so it should appeal to his myriad fans, but won’t return any he might have picked up with Grand Budapest to the theater. It just looks too bizarre.

Oscar Prospects:

Wes Anderson is now in the Oscar family, so his films should continue to do better with the Academy. The only problem is that this looks far more esoteric than his major live action Oscar predecessor The Grand Budapest Hotel, which might minimize who will find the film of interest.

  1. I believe this one will once again knock it out of the park. Costumes and set designs are pretty much a guaranteed lock.
