Review: (#1) These colors don’t quite work for what the film’s context would dictate. It’s mildly interesting, but not sufficiently.

(#2) This design positions LaKeith Stanfield behind Daniel Kaluuya in a subtle bit of thematic staging, but the red and white design does little to accentuate that creative element and the whole thing feels dull. (#3) Unless this is intended to be a character poster, having Kaluuya appear in both of the primary images makes for a weak choice. The colors and blocking just don’t work.

Review: (#1) An explosive trailer with a lot of interesting elements, it looks a bit too much like Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman to feel original, but Daniel Kaluuya’s performance looks absolutely smashing and LaKeith Stanfield doesn’t look half bad either.

(#2) Whereas the first trailer was magnetic, the second is a bit dull with an artistic attempt at tension building that doesn’t quite work.

Oscar Prospects:

This late-breaking contender was supposed to be a player for last year, but the pandemic pushed it out. Now, it appears to be releasing just in time for the Oscar cut-off. That wishy-washy release window will probably put it on the other side of the noms with nothing, though it could be a surprise.
