Review: From a distance, the mountainous background looks strange and that doesn’t add any emphasis to this poster design, nor does the lackluster central image.

Review: (#1) An important story, but a trailer that does a poor job getting the audience there. Giving away one of the dad’s impassioned speeches might have been a bridge too far, but by restricting the trailer to a chronological dissertation of scenes, it robs the film of some of its potential potency.
(#2) There’s not a lot of difference between the first trailer and the second, though the second does a better job intimating that Joe’s son isn’t physically with him on his cross-country trek, but it also seems to deemphasize that trek.
Oscar Prospects:
Mark Wahlberg could be an Oscar contender, though the July release does make that potential harder to believe.
