Film Preview: I’m Not There (2007)

Poster Rating: B

Review: Using Cate Blanchett’s Dylan head to showcase the stars is unusual since she apparently has such a short part in the film. However, the silhouette is at least such that it can be looked at without too much eye strain. And otherwise, there’s nothing truly objectionable here.

Trailer Rating: B; B

Review: The only thing I can understand from the preview is that it’s about several different interpretations of rock pioneer Bob Dylan. The only performance given any screen time is that of Blanchett who seems quite effective.

Highlighting the actors in this second trailer does help people understand more about the film. However, it takes away some of the creative ingenuity of the first trailer. It is nice to see all of the Bob Dylans in action, however.

Oscar Prospects:

Blanchett has numerous prospects this year, but a Supporting Actress nomination for a performance as a man would be only the second since Linda Hunt for The Year of Living Dangerously, which remains a distinct possibility.
