Poster Rating: B; C+

Review: This poster suggests that Santa’s brother coming for a visit isn’t necessarily a good thing. That he’s peering through his owndoor at a brother instead of opening the door means trouble. It’s a clever concept that lends itself well to ignoring the rather pedantic text explaining the situation.

From moderately interesting to infantile. It seems like the posters are heading the same direction as the trailers. What seemed like a moderately entertaining prospect has now begun to smell like an infantile, immature comedy that will surely capitalize on audiences who like such films. So, the poster is perfectly fitting.

Trailer Rating: B; C

Review: Though I’m loathe to admit it, this one looks like it could be completely hilarious. It also has the potential of being dreadfully irritating. We’ll find out at the end of the year. I am dreading what the actual trailer’s going to be like. This teaser’s the perfect thing to entice people into the theaters, but anything more might be too much.

I love when I get to see a new trailer at the theater before I watch it online. It’s a different experience altogether. However, the film itself isn’t. Big screen or computer screen doesn’t make this film look any better and what good will we had before is squandered on a silly, inept and thoroughly silly-looking feature.

Oscar Prospects:

Sure, it’s likely to be funny..but it’s not going to figure into the Oscars the same way that Bad Santa didn’t.
