Poster Rating: C

Review: Whether intentional or not, the poster looks like the cover of a magazing from the 1950s. The magazine Boys Life may be what the creators were going for, but if so, it wasn’t necessarily the best of choices. The colors are washed out and bringing Daniel Radcliffe so close to the front of the image may deceive audiences going to see another Harry Potter-style flick.

Trailer Rating: B+

Review: Thankfully, the trailer does not give the hint of Harry Potterness and even fails to accentuate Radcliffe’s presence. It helps the preview feel more important and interesting. The trailer quickly involves you in these boys’ lives and entices you to want to learn what becomes of their search for a family.

Oscar Prospects:

There aren’t enough big names in the film to make it a serious Oscar contender. There hasn’t been a film so predominantly about children to earn major Best Picture consideration in some time and only Oliver! managed a Best Picture win. I don’t see this one earning Oscar attention.
