Review: (#1) Who needs a title when you have a familiar character like Deadpool involved? This family Thanksgiving dinner is a nice teaser to release right before said holiday and it has all of our favorite characters from the first film with a couple of new friends.
(#2) This Flashdance spoof is absolutely appropriate for this franchise, especially considering the posters employed for the prior effort. It isn’t the best they’ve done, but it’s solid work.
(#3) A lightly amusing, but inconsequential design. (#4) “One never forget one’s second time” is a clever phrase (rendered in French) and paired with the image is interesting; however, it’s just such a dull visual overall that it doesn’t work. (#5) Having emotional feelings for your costar is a completely Deadpool thing to do. Yet this is another in a long string unappealing designs. (#6) Going for the domination aspect is a bit sexist, but also fitting for this character. (#7) With the color scheme, it almost looks like it could be rendered in red-blue 3D, but that’s unlikely considering there’s no blur to it. (#8) It’s meant to be humorous, but doesn’t have sufficient humor. Riding an inflatable swan is not that funny.
(#9) A very Deadpool kind of image: a cartoon image of rainbows and unicorns. It fits and is one of the best designs they’ve come up with. (#10) More of the same, this time with cheesy ridden unicorn. (#11) Ugly colors make for an ill-fitting design. (#12) These designs have been very fitting for Deadpool and that’s what makes them appealing even if they are too corny for their own good. (#13) The studio that killed Wolverine finally gives us a full design with almost all of the actors (no T.J. Miller thankfully), a burning rubber duck, an inflatable swan, and a kitchen sink. It has almost literally everything.
(#14-#15) Two more deadly dull character posters without a sizably redeeming element. (#16) This Christmas-themed play on the unicorn motif and the Princess BrideTrailer Rating: A- / B / B+ / B
SEE ALL TRAILERS BELOW (#2) How do you make a movie less interesting, you create a trailer like this and compare it to the teaser as well as everything done with and for the first movie and you would be a bit disappointed too. (#3) This is the best look yet at the film. The first was a simple teaser. The second was a modestly fun, but otherwise meager husk. This one, however, has plenty of excitement and humor to make up for the been-there-done-that feeling of it all. We have far more characters to concern ourselves with and that might be just the kind of infusion this sequel needs. (#4) They are releasing a PG-13 version of the film in theaters this winter and this trailer tries to make a case for the audience giving the film a second look. However, what makes the character great is that he’s foul-mouthed and isn’t blood-averse. That said, the use of Fred Savage in a tribute to Princess Bride is modestly inspired. If the original couldn’t get a Makeup and Hairstyling nomination, I doubt the sequel will do any better.
Review: (#1) This teaser reminds the audience why they loved the original film so much and goes out of its way to be inventive. Even the closing credit, which you must read each and every one, are dripping with brilliant humor.Oscar Prospects:
