Release Date:

Synopsis:

From IMDb: “With the 70s behind him, San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy, returns to take New York’s first 24-hour news channel by storm.”

Poster: (C) / B+ / D+ / B (9)

Review: (Design Missing: The initiated will get excited over the design, but everyone else will wonder what’s so special about a couple of pair of out-of-era legs.)

This “take on the city” design conveys the film’s premise fairly well and easily imprints itself on the mind of the many Ron Burgundy fans out there.

Now it’s just the mustache, which is once again only familiar to those already in adoration of the first film. And this time it isn’t even close to interesting.

The individual character posters do a nice job positioning each individual with unique positions and backgrounds, which make for a pleasing visual experience. (Updated – 12/15/13: Five new character posters were available, but I had nothing more to say as these comments already fit.

Trailer: C / C / C / B

Review: There’s nothing substantial to this extremely early teaser for the film, which relies on audience awareness to sell itself. For a teaser, that works, but they’ll have to do better to convince non-fans.

The second teaser is identical to the first save for a whole other slate of phrases and humor. It’s an unexceptional bit of entertainment speaking only to the faithful.

The first full trailer has a couple of good laughs, but is mostly unremarkable and will only serve to please fans of the original, not bridge the gap in order to attract new ones.

Even if you aren’t a fan of the Anchorman characters or original film, this new trailer has enough humorous elements to make it seem like a fun film regardless.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
